Heart of India Travel offers a wide range of tours in North India, focusing on culture, photography, wellness, and wildlife. Our tours range from adventure tours through Rajasthan and Gujarat to luxury safaris and special photography tours during festivals such as Holi.
The best time to visit North India is from October to March. These are the cooler months, ideal for sightseeing, photography, and outdoor activities. The weather is pleasant and the chance of rain is minimal.
Yes, a visa is required for travel to India. We recommend applying for an e-Tourist Visa (eTV), which can be easily done online. Make sure your passport is valid for at least six months upon entry into India.
We carefully select accommodations that match the travel experiences we offer. This includes boutique hotels, heritage hotels (converted palaces and forts), home stays, and luxury lodges near nature parks for our wildlife tours.
Our tours include comfortable transportation. For most tours you will have a private driver with a modern car or SUV I had to look up SUV with air conditioning. Some tours also include iconic train journeys or domestic flights to cover long distances.
The recommended vaccinations for a trip to North India are DTP (diphtheria, tetanus, polio), Hepatitis A, and Typhoid for longer stays or adventure travel. It is also recommended to take precautions against mosquito bites to prevent malaria and dengue.
Northern India is generally safe for tourists. We recommend taking the usual precautions, such as avoiding carrying large sums of money, keeping valuables safe, and following local safety guidelines. India has received quite a bit of negative press when it comes to safety. The image that this creates is a shame, because the population is so incredibly warm.
It is important to bring light, breathable clothing for the day and something warm for the cooler evenings, especially in the winter months. When visiting religious sites, conservative dress is expected (ladies shoulders and knees covered, men long trousers and shirt).
In North India, both Hindi and English are spoken, and in tourist areas English is widely used. Most hotels and restaurants offer Wi-Fi, and you can easily buy a local SIM card to use mobile data. As a (free) service, we arrange a SIM card for during the trip. This saves a lot of hassle upon arrival. This must be indicated in advance. If you want to arrange your own SIM card, you can do so at the first airports upon arrival. You will need a copy of your passport and a passport photo.
The local currency is the Indian Rupee (INR). ATMs are available in most cities, and most major hotels, restaurants and shops accept credit cards. We also recommend carrying some cash for small purchases and tips.
