Travel schedule

Day 1 – Arrive in Delhi

Upon arrival in Delhi, you will be welcomed and transferred to a charming guesthouse in the vibrant Hauz Khas neighbourhood. Spend the afternoon at leisure exploring the area’s narrow streets, stylish boutiques, cafés, and local atmosphere.

Day 2 – Discover Delhi 

Enjoy a full day with a private car and driver as you discover the highlights of Delhi. Visit iconic landmarks such as the Red Fort, Qutub Minar, Humayun’s Tomb, or wander through colourful local markets at your own pace. 

Day 3 – Journey to Haridwar 

Travel to the sacred city of Haridwar (approximately 3.5 hours). Watch pilgrims gather along the banks of the holy Ganges before experiencing the magical evening Aarti ceremony at the hotel’s private ghat. 

Day 4 – Kumbh Mela Experience 

Immerse yourself in the spiritual atmosphere of the Kumbh Mela. Visit an Akhada to meet the Naga Sadhus, explore the bustling Kumbh markets on a guided walk, discover Kankhal, and experience the remarkable tent city of the Bairagi camp. 

Day 5 – Journey to Tirwa 

Drive to Tirwa (approximately 6.5 hours) and check into a beautiful historic palace homestay. Spend the remainder of the day relaxing beside the pool or wandering through the peaceful palace gardens. 

Day 6 – Perfume Heritage of Kannauj 

Begin the day with an early morning visit to fragrant rose fields where flowers are traditionally hand-picked. Continue to a historic perfume distillery to discover the ancient deg-bhapka distillation technique. An optional walking tour of Kannauj offers further insight into India’s perfume capital.

Day 7 – Discover Lucknow 

Travel to Lucknow (approximately 2 hours). Explore the historic ruins of the British Residency before choosing between a visit to the magnificent Bada Imambara or discovering the lively historic markets of Aminabad. 

Day 8 – Hidden Treasures of Lucknow 

Start the morning along the Gomti River at Dhobi Ghat before walking through the historic neighbourhood of Chowk, famous for its traditional artisans and vibrant markets. In the afternoon, explore the elegant shopping district of Hazratganj. 

Day 9 – Journey to Varanasi 

Drive to Varanasi (approximately 5.5 hours), India’s holiest city. After checking into your hotel, enjoy a relaxed afternoon and evening to soak up the unique atmosphere and prepare for the spiritual experiences ahead. 

Day 10 – Masan Holi Ceremony 

Witness the extraordinary Masan Holi celebrations at Varanasi’s sacred cremation ghats. Visit the Rangbhari Ekadashi and Kinaram ceremonies before attending an evening ritual at the revered Manikarnika Kund. 

Day 11 – Ganges Boat Journey 

Take an early morning boat ride on the Ganges to experience Masan Holi from the river. Later, explore the northern bazaars and hidden alleyways of Varanasi, far from the usual tourist routes. 

Day 12 – Walking Through Kashi 

Enjoy a leisurely morning before joining a guided walking tour through ancient Kashi. Walk from Assi Ghat to Manikarnika Ghat, witnessing the daily rituals and timeless traditions that define this sacred city. 

Day 13 – Holika Dahan Festival 

Spend the day at leisure before witnessing the spectacular Holika Dahan ceremony in the evening. This sacred fire festival symbolises the triumph of good over evil and marks the beginning of Holi celebrations. 

Day 14 – Holi Celebration 

Celebrate Holi, India’s famous Festival of Colours. Join the festivities at your hotel or venture into the city to experience the joyful atmosphere, music, colours, and local traditions. 

Day 15 – Return to Delhi

Transfer to the airport for your flight back to Delhi. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel where you can relax and enjoy the remainder of the day at your own pace.

Day 16 – Explore Delhi at Leisure 

Enjoy one final day in Delhi with a private car and driver at your disposal. Revisit your favourite sights, explore hidden neighbourhoods, shop for souvenirs, or simply relax before your journey home. 

Day 17 – Departure from Delhi 

Transfer to Delhi International Airport for your return flight to Amsterdam, bringing an unforgettable journey through India’s spiritual heart to a close.
